The Weekend Edit #35

There is no vlog this week but zero events have occurred. I have spent the week poorly, anxious and attempting to work. In fact, I have done too much work have agreed to take on a lot of new work and now anxious I won't be able to the extra work load. I am my own worse enemy. But! There were some definite positives to this week so I have decided to just focus on those.

On Monday, with all my might, I didn't want to go to the pub. I know right. I didn't want to go and drink gin. Not because of the company I was meeting (Laura is one of my faves) I just had no energy to walk there, I felt unwell and I wasn't in the mood to be sociable. All day I kept hoping Laura would text to say something had come up and she couldn't make it. Well, 7pm and I had dragged myself out of the house and walked to the pub where I waited with a book and gin. I of course enjoyed myself and was glad that I went but that is where my current mind set is at. I am in a funk.

On Tuesday I spent my first night alone in the house as Michael headed down to London for work. It was exceptionally well timed as a lovely instagram friend sent me some happy mail. She had sent some chocolate, a candle, a book, a note pad, a pen, some lavender oil, a face mask, vitamin D tablets and a cute note. Little things like this mean so much and I spent the night feeling much calmer than I probably would have. I don't know the noises of the new house yet and freaked out when I thought I heard someone walking up the stairs...it was Atticus digging on the landing.

On Wednesday morning, I awoke to the news that the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer had finally been arrested. He was a serial killer, serial rapist and burglar who committed at least 12 murders, more than 50 rapes, and over 100 burglaries in California from 1976 through 1986. Casefile's 3 part story on him was one of the first true crime podcasts I listened to and it was terrifying, I couldn't believe he hadn't been caught and now thanks to DNA he has 40 odd years later. Now all I need is to hear what happened to Madeline McCann and I can rest peacefully.

If you'd like to listen the link is here.

On Thursday I uploaded my first interiors post to the blog, we are nearly at the 1 year anniversary and I can't believe this is the first proper inspiration post to go up. I was really proud of it so I hope you enjoyed it and I can't wait for work to start.

So like I said in the intro I am now properly working on two blogs, this and So You're Getting Married. I have increased my work load and whilst I am enjoying the distraction, the demands of different brands is already a little overwhelming. For this blog I am working with Cox and Cox, The White Company, Late Rooms and a wine company (hello!) this coming month. I just had to make sure I don't take on too much because SYGM is my main blog, my main income and should always be my main priority, I just really enjoy this little space on the internet/instagram and want to see where it can go.
In the same vein I have been setting myself goals and one of them is to not move back to Stamford, but to buy a second house there, just something small, that can be and Air BnB when we are not there. That is what I am going to look at saving for when we have got this house finished. So no more handbags for me! (Ok, maybe a couple).

On Friday a lovely hamper arrived from my godmother for the new house, excited about trying this gin. What would you pair it with tonic/mixer wise?

I finished unpacking some boxes and placing bits in new homes only to realise that I am going to have to take them all down when the decorator arrives but the shelves are looking less bare for now.
As I am writing this up Michael is currently cooking roast beef in our new microwave oven. The aga gets turned off in summer as it pumps out a lot of heat but that is our only cooking source. The aga costs £140 a month to just have on so any months we can have it off is going to help. This is our first time cooking in it and I am not convinced but I will let you know how it goes. We can still use the hot plates on the aga for curry/stir fries/pasta as they only take 10 mins to heat up but the rest of our cooking is going to be done in this oven contraption!

Sorry this week hasn't been overly interesting, next week will be I promise! Have a lovely week yourselves and I will see you mid week again with another interiors blog post!
